Seeing there are still not a lot of ‘real’ races at the moment and the Virtual Challenges I was doing ended, I figured I would make my own challenge. The RunArnoRun Virtual Scavenger Run Challenge.

Anybody can join in and it’s free. The date for the run is August 15th 2020 and there are several ways to collect points for your run. To join in simply email me your result of your run, just take a screen capture from your running app, together with any photos or videos you’ve made along the way to collect your points.

Now how can you collect points? There is a small list of things that you need to be on the lookout for on your run and there are some things that you can do to earn points. Now there are also bonus points. You can do exactly what is on the list to get a point, but you can also get creative with it, go above and beyond, do something crazy and earn some bonus points. So have some fun with it and rake in the points. We will be working with the honour system here, so send in photos or videos of that day only. Photos of things you’ve photographed weeks ago don’t count for the challenge.

Here is the list of things you can earn points for:

Distance – you get a point for each kilometre you run

Elevation – you get a point for every 250 feet of elevation

Animals on your run – Film or photograph animals you encounter on your run. Different species will count for more points, but 20 dogs is still just 1 point. 🙂

Giant item on your run – you ever run into one of those giant donuts or anything that is really oversized? Get it on camera and get a point.

You and a Stranger Running – find a stranger on your run that will run a little bit with you and film it for a point.

Coolest car – Could be parked down the street or maybe it happens to drive past, make sure you have your camera ready.

Costume – Here is where the bonus point come in to play. 🙂

Look-a-like – If you happen to run in to George Clooney, but it’s not actually him you get a point, maybe even bonus points. If it actually is George Clooney, no points, but we would still love to see a photo.

Tour Guide – Find a great sight in your area and tell us what is special about it.

Get out there and Run – all you have to do is film yourself saying ‘Get out there and Run’

Lost Christmas decorations – Some decorations just gets forgotten about and becomes year round decoration. If you happen to see it it’s worth a point.

Weird and Wonderful – Something strange you run in to, can’t wait to see what this could be.

And last but not least film yourself and introduce yourself real quick, make it a short 5 second video of you saying your name and where you’re running and I’ll try and make a compilation of everybody running the RunArnoRun Virtual Scavenger Run Challenge.

Ok, I hope this makes it all clear. Just have fun with it, that’s the main thing. If the files are too big for email try and send it through WeTransfer.com, you can send bigger files through here for free. I’ll make a fun video out of all of the results and will have some fun prizes to give away.
