Last week I was watching a Youtuber I always enjoy watching, Matti Haapoja. He mentioned in his video that he was organizing a short film festival and encouraged everybody to make a short 1 to 3 minute film with as subject the Covid-19 pandemic.
I thought this was a great challenge I decided to try and make something that would be running related but still would be something filmed at home. I wanted it to be different to my other videos and cover an issue people, but mostly maybe runners, would understand. Since I’ve been stuck at home I’ve been spending a lot of my time on filmmaking, editing and trying to learn new things. One of the things I had spent some time on recently was a Masterclass that covered a lot of documentary filmmaking. So I wanted to use that style of film in the project and give it a bit of a somber tone, seeing the subject matter. But of course I also wanted to put a smile to peoples faces. Mixing all of this togeter I came up with the short film titled ‘Love Hate Relationship’
I really enjoyed working on this short film and Matti had inspired me to keep thinking of other ways to work on this and I decided to make a second entry for the short film contest. This time I wanted it to be something I could use for my other YouTube channel, Keep it Wild, the channel where I post all of my animal videos. For this film I decided to take the animal perspective on the Covid-19 pandemic. Something light harded and again would put a smile to someone’s face.
The contest awards 5 films with a money prize, so that makes it a bit more exciting. Although, being shown on Matti’s channel or even just knowing he will have watched my films is already exciting enough for me. I’m curious to see what other people will have come up with for this challenge. Both videos you can see down below, leave me a comment on YouTube to let me know what you think of them.
